Ride Share and Carpooling

Do you carpool to work? Would you be interested in carpooling?  What are the pros and cons of carpooling for you?

I currently do not carpool and I'm not sure if I would be interested.  If the cost of gas continues to rise dramatically, my thinking may change.

Some of the pros would be:

• Saving money on the cost of gas
• Saving wear & tear, and mileage on vehicles (that are very expensive to buy)
• Saving on the amount of gas consumption the U.S. uses (lessen our reliability on foreign oil)
• Saving on the amount of pollutants emitted into the environment

The cons would be:

• Always having the daily responsibility of having to meet someone
• Not having a vehicle to run errands
• Not having a vehicle for the occasional request from work
• Not having transportation in case overtime is required from work
• Not having transportation for travel before and after work

Driving is the only time I have to myself.

No phones. No email. No people.

Just me and the CD player.

I think I would be losing more then I would gain.
