The 59th Annual Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade will take place this year on Sunday, December 5 2010.  The parade begins at 1:45 PM at the corner of Tienken and Rochester roads and will continue south along Main Street to Third Street in downtown Rochester. Children of all ages will enjoy 36 floats, 9 marching bands, 14 drill teams, horse drawn carriages, dogs, clowns, fire trucks, marchers and who cannot forget the jolly old elf himself Santa Claus.  This year's parade theme is Candy Lane on Main. 

Events and entertainment include:

  • Pancake Breakfast - 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
    Older Person's Commission
    650 Letica Drive
    Adults $5.00, Children (12 & under) $2.00
  • Kris Kringle Market - 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    West Fourth Street between Main and Walnut
    Food, greens & wreaths and lots more. 
  • Visits with Santa before the Parade - 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
    4th Street and Rochester Road/Main Street behind the bleachers
  • Post Parade Community Open House - Immediately following the parade
    Rochester Community House
    816 Ludlow in the Rochester Municipal Park
    Hot dogs, meat balls, cocoa, foffee, cookies, doughnuts and other goodies will be available for purchase.
  • Community Afterglow with Santa Claus - 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
    Bordine Nursery
    1835 South Rochester Road at Hamlin
    Be sure to bring your camera!
  • Big, Bright Light Show - 6 PM until midnight
    Downtown Rochester
    Storefronts up and down Main Street will shine brightly, decorated with over a million holiday LED lights.

Not a fan of the cold or can't make it to the parade?  Tune into Channel 7 WXYZ-TV, where your favorite tv anchors will be covering the parade live.

I have been going to the Rochester Parade since I was 3 years old this year I was unable due to an illness now 48 years old , I was disappointed in the coverage for the parade they had too many interviews and drawing making me miss the people in the parade especially the Saint Bernard dogs I saw them as they were in the back ground when they were filming a drawing is there any coverage of the complete parade I really would like to see the complete parade all the bands and fire trucks and all the children ...
