What is the Detroit International Jazz Festival?
It is 4 days, 5 stages, hundreds of performers, a international audience of 500,000 and covers several blocks in downtown Detroit.

The Detroit International Jazz Festival is America’s largest free jazz festival and showcases many of the world's finest musicians. 2009 marks it's 30th year of celebrating all forms of music, but mostly Jazz.

This year, a few of the internationally renown artists appearing on the festival stages are
Hank Jones, Wayne Shorter, Dave Brubeck, CCW (Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke & Lenny White),
Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, Sheila Jordan, Christian McBride, Irma Thomas, Pete Escovedo, Dennis Coffey, Straight Ahead and T.S.Monk.

The festival also offers unique educational activities, including the opportunity to sit and listen to jazz legends and Detroit jazz historians discuss the music, the musicians, the history and a whole lot more at the Jazz Talk Tent.
