Hot Fun in the Summertime: The 2009 Arts Beats & Eats summer fest will be held in downtown Pontiac on Labor Day weekend Sept 4- Sept 7. For the twelfth year you can see-works of some of the top artists, hear-exciting music and chow down on some darn good food. As in previous years, there will be Kids area that will have various entertainment for the younger crowd including the Kid’s Blast Game Show.
While a admission fee is being charged this year for the first time, the donation will go to 12 local non-profits.
Artist from across the nation will present their latest works in Ceramics, Glass, Metal, Wood and other medias. For a list of artists and medias click here.
For those looking for ‘artist works for the taste buds’, you will not be disappointed. A selection of tasty treats from many local restaurants will be waiting for you, no matter what your preference in culinary delights may be.
Arts Beats & Eats will also have environmental displays and continue its sustainability in 2009 by recycling all trash and using bio degradable products.
While I will spend much of my time around the acoustic stage, this years featured acts on the Main Stage will be:
Friday: Los Lobos (8:00 pm) and Candlebox (9:30 pm)
Saturday: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (9:30 pm)
Sunday: Keiko Matsui (7:30 pm) Angie Stone (9:00 pm)
Monday: Puddle of Mudd (6:30 pm)
Of course, you will find music of just about every style and from every corner of the world at the festival. Has anybody seen the bagpipes?
