All About "Around the Town"

The Around the Town blog contains metro area events that either we've (the bloggers) attended in the past, would like to attend, plan to attend or just sound interesting. It is not  a complete event calender or is focused on only events that take place  in the county. Read more.

Did you know that the Woodward Dream Cruise actually started as a small fundraiser to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale?

Today the event is a tribute to the classic car from all eras, and attracts over one million people and thousands of classic and not so classic cars each year. It is the world's largest one-day automotive event attracting car fans from all over the world.  On the third Saturday in August, for many, it is the annual rite of summer.

Of course the weeks leading up to the Dream Cruise, Woodward Avenue will each night attract more and more vehicles on the road, and observers who will take a viewing space in the parking lots between Ferndale and Pontiac, Michigan.

Dream Cruise Cities: Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac, Royal Oak

For more on the offical event, visit the Woodward Dream Cruise website.
The 2009 Woodward Dream Cruise take officially place on Saturday, August 15, 2009 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
