All About "Around the Town"

The Around the Town blog contains metro area events that either we've (the bloggers) attended in the past, would like to attend, plan to attend or just sound interesting. It is not  a complete event calender or is focused on only events that take place  in the county. Read more.

The Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle, you can stand on the bridge of a Great Lakes freighter, Touch the anchor of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Look through a periscope and see many exhibits on life in the Great Lakes surrounding Michigan. One of my memories that they have (in their exhibit of Michigan's former, very unique island amusement park, Bob-lo) is one of the Bob-lo swan ride boats. Seems like only yesterday, that a 90 minute boat trip downriver was one of the highlights of summer vacation!!!!

Belle Isle is still a gem in our area that many forget about.  There is a lot of history there.  Where else can you see the anchor from the Edmund Fitzgerald?
