All About "Around the Town"

The Around the Town blog contains metro area events that either we've (the bloggers) attended in the past, would like to attend, plan to attend or just sound interesting. It is not  a complete event calender or is focused on only events that take place  in the county. Read more.

Ice Carvers from as far as Japan will be creating large and small sculptures at the 27th Annual Plymouth International Ice Sculpture Spectacular. The event will feature hundreds of statues of all sizes carved from either a single block of ice or up to as many as one hundred giant ice cubes.

Ice

Participants will include not only professional ice carvers, but students from area high schools, community colleges and universities.

You will be able to watch each artist from start to finish; from the stacking of the blocks of ice,  carving (with chisels and power tools, including chainsaws!!!), to the final piece of ice art. Many of the artists will answer your questions while creating their frozen display.

Join us at America's oldest and largest ice carving festival on January 23 through January 25, 2009.
