All About "Around the Town"

The Around the Town blog contains metro area events that either we've (the bloggers) attended in the past, would like to attend, plan to attend or just sound interesting. It is not  a complete event calender or is focused on only events that take place  in the county. Read more.

Just what is Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum?

Is it an arcade, a museum, someone's overgrown collection of junk pile relics. Or is it a paradise of mechanical treasures? The say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and these eyes find this place a five-star wonder.

Coin operated games, robots, posters, animatronic dummies, and who knows what else is found in this 5,000 square foot museum. Admission is free, but there is a charge if you play any of the coin-operated games of the past and present.

Some of the most popular machines are the fortune tellers, where you can ask  'The Brain'  what is in your future. Do you have a fear of spiders?  On the 'Cure Your Fear of Spiders',  you get to place your hand in a cage with what might be a you-know-what. Will you?

Many of the machines are unique only to Marvin's.
Most of the machines have a small, hand-lettered card that notes its age of the machine and it's origins.

You will not see everything in one visit, so be prepared to return again and again to the museum.
